A ship has run a ground spilling its cargo. is it fair to plunder whats been washed ashore ?

Off the Devon coast a ship containing peoples belongings has been shipwrecked resulting in cargo containers being washed onto the beach. Hundreds of people have been combing the beach for ';booty'; which include some peoples personal belongings and making off with them.A ship has run a ground spilling its cargo. is it fair to plunder whats been washed ashore ?
Yes, plunder away. It would be impossible to find the rightful owners, and you are cleaning up the beach too !A ship has run a ground spilling its cargo. is it fair to plunder whats been washed ashore ?
Take what you can get!! Youre helping the clean-up effort.
i suppose the stuff can't resell, so why not???
No it is not right. Although they have been washed up, they still belong to someone. Surely this should be classed as stealing.
I believe you mean the ONE container with the Swedish Ladies belongings in it? Most of it would have been ruined by the sea anyway and subject to and Insurance claim so the people that took some of it actually probably saved it
To my fellow answering colleagues: Me and my drunk white trash punk friends, after a night of fistfights, bashing skinheads, and listening to Blood for Blood ';accidentally'; drive my '77 LTD through your front window. Can we take your stuff, since the rain might ruin it anyway, and your house used to be prairie or forest?
It doesn't seem right if its your stuff they are carting away. Mind you the insurance pays for most of it. If the stuff is just going to be thrown in a skip well its better to collect it and recycle it by using it. I lived in a village once where a lorry load of eggs crashed. There were 500 of us villagers and we nicked all the eggs and had omelets for the next six months. Never thought once as to who owned them - one thing was certain they were richer than we were
