Because a cargo container nuke can destroy NY, shouldn't we move the stock exchange to a hardened shelter?

It is no question that 911 was aimed at making a dent in Wall Street and the West's economy. With the threat of Iran and North Korea (less so, since they just want the cash for NOT making bombs) simply mailing us a bomb into New York Harbor and destroying the world's monetary system so very real, shouldn't we put the records into a safer place? Maybe spread it out so it's not so vulnerable? If you recall, on 911, they did shut down the stock market briefly. Wonder who had prior knowledge and profited from that?Because a cargo container nuke can destroy NY, shouldn't we move the stock exchange to a hardened shelter?
I saw something on this a time ago. Supposedly if the actual exchange were to fall there is ability to place it back up rather quickly by an alternative.

Records would likely not be lost due to multiple point storage data systems.Because a cargo container nuke can destroy NY, shouldn't we move the stock exchange to a hardened shelter?
Yes , everything we have that is VITAL to our economy and our existance should be moved to safe, well guarded, but little known places and the ';press'; should keep SILENT about where these places are !!!!

I believe in Freedom of the Press, unless it's VITAL to our NATIONAL SECURITY, then I say back-off boys (and girls) !!! There are some things that REQUIRE SILENCE %26amp; SECRETS !!!!
I see your point. If they were going to nuke NY, the first effort is to save a group of suits.

If you want the stock exchange, build in some redunancy at other locations. The big hit on the economy was because the act of terror effected the the confidence in the market. Putting the exchange in fallout shelter does little to assure the investors.
NIce question.
If a nuke goes off in New York harbor, the continued existence of the NYSE will be the least of our worries.
I think we need to relocate NY if that happens. I was watching those towers burn, waiting for the next incident. People still wonder why we fight, hope we never get another reminder.
Stock exchange data is constantly backed up on remote servers. You could obliterate NY and the data would be quite safe, as would the world's monetary system, which doesn't live and die by the NYSE.
good point, but have you ever considered the logistics of just moving the entire New York Stock Exchange? they'll have to shut it down for at least a little while to transfer everything, and thye market might take a turn for the worst. besides, any terrorists planning to cripple the Exchange might be goaded into making his move early, and the fear caused by this move may cause the market to drop.
Is the stock market glorified gambling or the foundation of our nation's economy?
