Why don't we put all Gitmo prisnrs in a C130, fly it over Mecca n at 30,000 ft open cargo door n dump um?

An excellent fate for these thugs and terrorists. And NO I did not mention anything about providing them with parachutes. Why don't we put all Gitmo prisnrs in a C130, fly it over Mecca n at 30,000 ft open cargo door n dump um?
Heck yeah!

Nothing promotes democracy like completely circumventing due process of law!

Now don't you feel like a man?

ADDED: Hey Coasty: Actually, since they were FINALLY declared ';enemy combatants'; in June '08 (better late than never), they are entitled to protection under Common Article 3 of the Geneva Convention (that you're so familiar with).

Common Article 3 describes minimal protections which must be adhered to by all individuals within a signatory's territory during an armed conflict not of an international character (regardless of citizenship or lack thereof): Noncombatants, combatants who have laid down their arms, and combatants who are hors de combat (out of the fight) due to wounds, detention, or any other cause shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, including prohibition of outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment. The passing of sentences must also be pronounced by a regularly constituted court, affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples. Article 3's protections exist even though no one is classified as a prisoner of war.

Having ';terrorist suspects'; or anyone else held at Gitmo is the worst thing the US has done since the Japanese Internment camps of WW II. How can the US claim to be a ';becon of democracy'; when they forcibly withhold basic human rights from other human beings?

And even if they are guilty of fighting against the US or planning attacks against the US, they should face a court of law for their actions. Otherwise, they should be released or turned over to their government.

If the US is serious about fighting a so-called ';Global War on Terror';, the best weapon they can use is to set the proper example, not succumb to the level of the perceived terrorists.

And yes, I'm a 12 year Army combat vet who got out because I, like thousands of other US service members, wasn't going to fight in the BS war in Iraq. Why don't we put all Gitmo prisnrs in a C130, fly it over Mecca n at 30,000 ft open cargo door n dump um?
Because most of them have not even been accused of anything let alone convicted. Most are being held simply for questioning to try and extract information that they probably don't have (that's why they are being held at Gitmo).

Can't exactly go around claiming to be the leaders of the free world and standing up for freedom, justice and democracy and then murder a bunch of people who probably have not done anything. That would be the Chimpanzee part of the brain at work.
Hey suits me. We should do so right now.

Hey Heart of Darkness: We have the legal right to execute them right now because they were taken on the field of battle with no uniform. If you are what you claim then you will have heard of the Geneva Convention. Under the laws of war they are not even due a trial.
If our country does that it will be like the dictator of Chile did it in the 70麓s when he was in power. The CIA will be using an oil ship to take them around the world until any country wants them.
Oh, i got a better idea! We tell them that we're moving them to another camp, but first they need to take a shower. but instead of showers, they get gassed! Cool huh?

In other words, NO.
We could put them into DC9's and drop them into a volcano and then detonate a large hydrogen bomb.
